
Daniel Woods is an award-winning broadcaster and multimedia journalist who currently serves as the play-by-play voice of West Virginia State University in addition to broadcasting women’s basketball and volleyball on ESPN+ for West Virginia University.
Woods is also the statewide sports anchor on the MetroNews West Virginia Morning News, providing updates on more than 60 stations across the Mountain State.
Woods started with MetroNews in Martinsburg, WV as a play-by-play announcer, anchor, and host for the Panhandle News Network where he won West Virginia Broadcasters Association awards for both sports and news coverage.
Prior to joining the MetroNews, he led the sports department at WBOY 12 News in Clarksburg, WV and was named the West Virginia Sports Anchor of the Year in 2024.
Woods graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 2022, where he directed the award-winning sports department of the student radio station, U92 FM, and made history as the first student play-by-play announcer to broadcast WVU football and men’s basketball on U92.
